Insight into effects of long-chain fatty acids on propionic acid production in anaerobic fermentation: A case study of oleic acid and palmitic acid

چکیده

This study revealed long-chain fatty acids(LCFAs) on propionic acid production by lipid anaerobic acidogenesis. Oleic and palmitic acid, the two most common LCFAs, were added into acidogenic system to evaluate LCFAs type concentration capacity. The results showed that when of oleic was 4 g/L, content volatile acids(VFAs) 1.3 times higher than blank group(propionic main product, >70%). In contrast, excess inhibited production(butyric product). Propionic acid-producing bacteria dominant in an system. According response surface analysis, optimal favoring for 2.3 g/L fermentation time 7.4 days this study. a proper has promotion production. provides theoretical basis promote

Effects of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA), myristic acid, and oleic acid on serum lipoproteins

In this study we investigated the effects on lipoproteins of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) and myristic acid relative to those of oleic acid. Thirty-seven women and 23 men consumed a 3-wk run-in diet enriched in oleic acid followed by a 6-wk test diet rich in MCFA (n = 21), myristic (n = 20), or oleic acid (n = 19). Experimental fats were incorporated into solid foods. Total fat intake was 40...

Protective Effects of Linoleic Acid against the Cytotoxicity of Palmitic Fatty Acid in Rat Cardiomyocytes

Background & Aims: Lipotoxicity is the process through which accumulation of lipid intermadiates leads to cellular dysfunction. The worldwide prevalence of cardiovascular diseases has been increased dramatically due to lipotoxicity. According to the peformed studies, saturated and unsaturated fatty acids differ significantly in their contributions to lipotoxicity. It has been r...

Anaerobic biodegradation of oleic and palmitic acids: evidence of mass transfer limitations caused by long chain fatty acid accumulation onto the anaerobic sludge.

Palmitic acid was the main long chain fatty acids (LCFA) that accumulated onto the anaerobic sludge when oleic acid was fed to an EGSB reactor. The conversion between oleic and palmitic acid was linked to the biological activity. When palmitic acid was fed to an EGSB reactor it represented also the main LCFA that accumulated onto the sludge. The way of palmitic acid accumulation was different i...
